Hidden Beauty

Anika Robbertse
Mixed medium, acrylic, beads

This painting captures my interpretation of an abstract underwater world inspired by the Pilbara, where I build layers of coral-like forms and drifting marine life through rich, earthy colour and texture. Deep rusts and burnt oranges echo the Pilbara landscape, while hints of violet and soft luminous tones suggest shifting light beneath the surface. I focus on balance and flow, reflecting the region’s quiet rhythms of growth, decay, and renewal, and inviting the viewer into a space that feels both intimate and expansive.

About the Artist

Anika Robbertse

Pilbara

South African-born, Pilbara-based emerging artist working in mixed media. I don’t stick to one style—I follow instinct. From raw florals to animal forms and portraits, my work is grounded in nature but built through texture, contrast, and layered colour. I create to reveal what sits beneath the surface— making each piece personal, imperfect, and unapologetically felt.
