Twas The Night Before Christmas

Elisha McGuckin
Acrylic On Canvas

Will Christmas look the same this year? An abundance of fruits, meats and cheeses or will global events & personal circumstances impact the way we celebrate the festive season. In uncertain times, what story will the contents of your fridge tell come December? How fortunate I am to have a fridge.

About the Artist

Elisha McGuckin

Southwest

Elisha McGuckin (b.1985) is a professional artist living and working in South Western Australia. Recognised for her signature blend of traditional painting techniques and the commercial colour palette of pop art, McGuckin is fascinated by the impacts of consumerism and popular culture. A background in floristry and high-end fashion retail, she translates her love of colour and behind the scenes knowledge of marketing into attention grabbing expressive still life paintings. A rhythmic process, that responds to the music playing in her studio and the intricate studies of light and colour often falling on one singular object. McGuckins’ practice explores the intimate details of her subjects and the human narrative contained within. Things are not always as they appear on the surface, there is much magic in the simplest of things. Unpacking connectivity and documenting of the times, she encourages her viewers to consider material memory and open discussion, sharing their own connection to her work. Most recently hosting her fourth solo exhibition “Be Treatwise” at The Collie Art Gallery (2025) McGuckins body of work continues to evolve as she moves with the rhythms of life and navigates the modern world.
