Mushroom Cave

Elaine Fewings
Oil and cold wax

This work was inspired by a series of  photographic works by Esperance based artist and author JD Dahl on one of his sojourns to Peak Charles WA, and part of a series of my paintings called ‘Wonders’. These works depict natural phenomena with debatable origins. ‘Mushroom Cave’ creates a sense of wonder in me at the idea that perhaps giant organisms did exist in the past, and that a lot of history may be either fudged or forgotten.
