Magnificent Millstream
Henry A Wood
Oil On Canvas
In the arid interior of the Pilbara lies the magnificent oasis of Millstream. In this work, Henry A. Wood seeks to capture the sense of relief and wonder experienced by the weary traveller upon encountering the cool shade of the palm trees and the beautiful water lilies that flourish in the stream emerging from the parched earth.
Through this painting, Wood recreates the unique atmosphere of Millstream, celebrating the contrast between the harshness of the surrounding landscape and the vitality of this hidden oasis.

About the Artist
Henry A Wood
Wheatbelt
A synopsis of my career as an artist covers a large period of my life living in Africa, Canada and Australia. I have concentrated on African animals and landscapes in Africa. In Canada on landscapes and in Australia on landscapes and seascapes. My principal areas in Western Australia have been the Pilbara, Kimberly, and seascapes out of Esperance, Rottnest Island and Ningaloo. I have sold paintings in galleries and Art Exhibitions and reference my paintings from photographs I have taken on my numerous camping and caravan trips around Australia. Some of the paintings were painted on site and others in my studio. I am fascinated by light and shadows and attempted to create moods in my paintings finding contrast as the best indication of the time in the day. Realism and detail has been my aim.
