Between Tides, Rocks at Reddell

Anna Spencer
Acrylic on canvas

Between Tides, Rocks at Reddell' captures the intricate, ever-changing worlds revealed between the immense tides of the Broome coastline, in this instance rock formations at Reddell Beach. Layered rock formations and tidal pools, rich with texture and small marine life, shift daily- offering a continual source of curiosity and inspiration. These fleeting intertidal moments inform Anna’s painting practice, where surfaces are built up through repeated layering. This process creates depth, echoing the geological formations themselves, while developing colours and textures distinctive to the region. The work translates close observation into an abstracted visual language grounded in place and the rhythmic influence of tide and time.
